Vibrant colors and free spirited artistic style....a reflection of Joan's personality and lifestyle.

Joan was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She went on to obtain her degree in Art Education from the University of Alabama. Also earning her degree as a Registered Nurse, she settled in Vestavia Hills (a suburb of Birmingham) where she splits her time between her art and working part time in the Division of Pediatrics Cardiology at UAB Hospital.

Joan's unique and skillful use of the palette knife creates impressionistic paintings that are both multidimensional and stylish. The abstract strokes can be interpreted in a number of ways yet each painting has a clear story.
