Robin Bird Smith

I dabbled in several art mediums before I found clay. It literally stuck. Somehow, I am able to transfer ideas from my mind, through my fingertips, and onto the clay All of my inspiration comes from the life around me.
I live in the wonderful area of North Georgia and the Blue Ridge Mountains. I am truly inspired by the woodland, rivers, lakes, and wildlife. I love birds, bears, dogs, horses, elephants, etc. They are all unique and wonderful. I try my best to capture their spirit and identity in clay. I use glaze to secure the piece for function and to add color and contrast.
Each piece is designed, created, and sculpted by me. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind creation and will not be duplicated. I am a self-taught artist. I lean heavily towards sculpture and folk art. The chuckles and laughter from those that view my work are quite rewarding.
Besides my inspirational Georgia home, I enjoy traveling the United States--everywhere, from seas to mountains. This is where I find new ideas for sculptures and pottery. Sometimes I can hardly wait to get in the studio and make a new piece from a very sweet memory.
